New Solar Maternity Ward in Maroua
Construction of a fully solar-powered maternity unit with 20 beds, ensuring 24/7 lighting and refrigeration for vaccines in a region plagued by power cuts.
Project Overview
In Maroua, frequent power outages have long compromised the safety of nighttime deliveries and the cold chain for
vaccines. This project involves the construction of a new, autonomous maternity annex powered entirely by renewable
energy.
Key Deliverables
- Structure: 20-bed capacity ward with separate delivery and recovery rooms.
- Energy: Installation of 12kW Solar System with battery backup.
- Equipment: 2 specialized surgical delivery tables and neonatal resuscitation units.
Current Progress
The foundation has been laid, and the walls are currently going up. The solar panels have arrived on-site and are
scheduled for installation next month.
