Addressing the Root Causes of Disease
Malnutrition and preventable diseases remain the leading causes of child mortality in the regions we serve. Our
Prevention & Nutrition program adopts a holistic approach that combines direct nutritional support
with community education and sanitation improvements.
By empowering families with knowledge and resources, we are building resilient communities capable of thriving
independently.
Our Strategic Focus Areas
1. Community Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM)
We operate decentralized treatment centers where children with severe acute malnutrition receive life-saving
therapeutic food (RUTF) and medical care closer to home, reducing default rates and improving outcomes.
2. Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH)
Nutrition is inseparable from hygiene. Our teams construct secure water points and latrines in schools and
villages, while conducting rigorous hygiene promotion campaigns to prevent waterborne diseases like cholera and
typhoid.
3. Improving Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF)
We train « Mother Leaders » in remote villages to educate their peers on exclusive breastfeeding, complementary
feeding, and creating balanced meals using locally available ingredients.
« Before the program, I didn’t know that the porridge I gave my son lacked the nutrients he needed. The cooking
demonstrations saved his life and taught me how to keep my whole family strong. »

The Road Ahead
Our goal for 2026 is to expand our reach into the underserved Northern border regions, where climate change is
exacerbating food insecurity. With your support, we plan to launch three new mobile nutrition clinics to reach
nomadic populations.
